Our Center's
PARKING AND ENTRANCES: The two entrances on either side of our building
give you direct private access to our parking at the rear of the building
(accessed from W. George Mason Road) or to the garage (accessed from W.
Greenway Boulevard). Clinic escorts in special orange marked vests may
be able to direct you. The entrance door and the elevators can be accessed
directly from either the rear parking area or the garage as well as from
the front of the office building.

The following information is provided for our patients coming for Pregnancy Termination
procedures:

THE
DAY OF YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Prior to arrival, please take a cleansing shower.
- For your
comfort wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing and low or flat heeled
shoes. A warm sweater may be welcomed.
- If you will
be awake (having local anesthetic): Plan to be at the Center for 3
- 3-1/2 hours
-You may bring someone with you if you care to.
-You may eat a light meal up to1 hour prior to
your appointment
- If you will
be asleep (general anesthesia): Plan to be at the Center for 3 - 4
hours
-DO NOT eat, drink, chew gum (FULL NPO) 8
hours prior to your appointment. Be sure to drink water before NPO time.
-Please bring someone with you to drive you
home...you cannot drive yourself home.
- If you will
be having a medical (non-surgical) procedure: Plan to be at the Center
for 2 - 2-1/2 hours
-You may bring someone with you if you care
to.
- You may eat a light meal up to 1 hour prior
to your appointment. Discontinue Folic Acid supplements and folic acid rich foods.
- Please bring
information as may be required by Virginia Law as instructed by our
phone counselor when you made your appointment.
- Please
bring your meds if asthmatic, diabetic or have other such medical
condition. Please bring your contact lens case.
- Please arrive
promptly at your scheduled appointment time.
WHEN YOU ARRIVE FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT:
Please Plan on being at the Center for
3 - 4 hours.
Registration Process:
- You will Register with the Receptionist
- Complete Forms (You may complete and bring the following
Patient History Form
with you)
- Have lab work done including urine and blood work
- Meet individually with
one of our counselors to review your medical history, discuss concerns
or questions your may have about the procedure, birth control and your feelings.
- Return to Patient Waiting Room
Medical Process:
- You will be escorted to the exam room to undress and prepare for procedure. A female
counselor will be present to assist you throughout the entire medical process.
- Our licensed medical doctor will give you a brief exam and answer any questions you
have.
- If you will be asleep (general anesthesia) our Anesthetist will review your medical
history and answer any questions you may have then put you to sleep.
- The surgical procedures will follow and take
approximately five minutes.
Recovery Process: (recovery time varies for each
patient but averages 1/2 to 1 hour)
